Stephen T. Kirk, MD, grew up in Murray, Utah and graduated from Murray High School. He received an undergraduate degree in exercise and sports science from the University of Utah. He then completed his medical degree at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. After medical school, Dr. Kirk returned to Utah where he completed a family medicine residency at Utah Valley Family Medicine followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Utah Valley Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Provo. Sports Medicine Experience: Dr. Kirk has previously been a team/event physician for the following schools and teams Brigham Young University St. George IronMan / Half IronMan Utah Valley Marathon (medical director) Utah Valley University Utah Argos (Professional Football Development League) High Schools: Mountain View, Springville, Salem Hills Dr. Kirk is currently a team physician for the following schools and teams: Ballet West Real Salt Lake Solitude Ski Clinic Westminster College U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) - Active Member Physician Pool Utah Falconz High Schools: Taylorsville and Summit Academy Dr. Kirk enjoys taking care of any injury that is related to sports or physical activity. Areas of special interest include: General orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries of upper and lower extremities Fracture management (nonsurgical) Osteoarthritis Soft tissue injuries (ex: plantar fasciitis, hip or shoulder bursitis, etc) Tendon injuries (ex: tennis elbow, patellar tendonitis, rotator cuff, etc) Running injuries and running biomechanics Ultrasound diagnostic exams, guided injections and procedures Concussion evaluation and management Personally, Dr. Kirk is an active athlete, once a football and rugby player, he has now turned to distance running. He also enjoys golfing and playing basketball. Dr. Kirk is accepting new patients and takes most insurance plans.
